2013 Noble Prize

In Literature
The Noble Prize in literature for 2013 has been awarded to the Canadian Author Alice Munro  the “Master of Contemporary Stories.” Canada-born writer Alice Munro is the 27th Literature Laureate writing in English. Alice Munro is the 13th woman awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature so far. She is also the 110th Literature Laureate in total.


Malala Youafzai, won the European Union's annual human rights award

Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai, shot in the head by the Taliban for campaigning for education for girls, won the European Union's annual human rights award on Thursday, beating fugitive U.S. intelligence analyst Edward Snowden.


23rd ASEAN Summit to reaffirm 2015 targets on 9-10 October

With the theme “our people, our future” 23rd summit will discuss ways to strengthen the gains to meet the 2015 target of having an economically integrated, politically cohesive and socially responsible ASEAN Community. The secretary general of ASEAN is  H.E. Le Luong Minh. ASEAN was established in 1967. The member countries are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The summit meeting between India and the above mentioned 10-members of ASEAN will be about expectations of our role in the Asia-Pacific region in Brunei. An announcement of an Indian Ambassador to ASEAN is expected by the Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh.
